Activities include the accounting equation, the accounting cycle, basic computerized accounting, entering transactions in payroll systems, banking activities, taxes, etc. This class is essential for students who choose the business, management, and technology pathway. A calculator is required.

Dual credit accounting
Year: 1 Unit

Weighted/College Credit
Prerequisite: B- or above in Accounting I and a 3.0 GPA
This is an intensive year-long course. Three hours of college credit may be earned through the University of Central Missouri during the spring semester(ACCT 2100); tuition will be paid to UCM in order to receive college credit. The first semester of Dual Credit Accounting focuses on developing the student’s ability to analyze, process, and communicate accounting data through the end result of preparing financial statements in an acceptable format. The second semester introduces students to the framework of financial and managerial accounting theory and practice; provides students with a basic introduction to the function of a financial accounting system and accounting terminology. This course is designed to acquaint students with various business transactions and to analyze the impact that these transactions have on the financial statements. Students wanting to take Dual Credit Accounting for college credit must be enrolled in both semesters of the course. Students in Dual Credit Accounting help run the RP Daily Grind Coffee Shop and take care of the financial aspects of the shop.
